“My work is an exploration of the unknown hidden in the heart of humans and nature.”
For the Franco-Canadian self-taught artist Brigitte Nogaro, creation is a great responsibility, for she thinks the work of an artist is that of a messenger. Before establishing herself as an artist, Brigitte worked as a pharmacist with a great deal of botanical knowledge. Since her childhood she was passionate about observing living organisms. Armed with a microscope, she liked to experiment with plant matter, to observe the life hidden there.
Shadow play belongs to the vegetal series:
Plants embody life. Silent and immobile, planted both in the air and in the ground,
they are constantly interacting with the elements. Plants remind us that we are part of a greater whole and that information flows between each element.
Shadow play - storytelling :
A pure fluid like Ether bathes in a trembling light the finger of the creator who quivers at the awakening of our consciousness of the ephemeral.
This scientific knowledge and passion for observing the substance of things have thoroughly inspired her creative process as an artist. Brigitte focuses on the magical information contained in each element and each particle of life. She strives to add to her creations the innermost energy contained in every living being. Her work is an exploration of the unknown hidden in the heart of humans and nature.
Floral 27 belongs to the series floral series:
Flowers highlight the beauty of life with their diversity, their bold and their unexpected and improbable creativity.
Her creative process is unique. It is based on images of reality. With a subtle blend of faith and patience, Brigitte starts to deconstruct the image. Digital creation offers her infinite tools and possibilities, and encourages her to explore, evolve, or let go of parts of herself to create something new. Throughout the creation process, she heads towards the unknown, and it’s fascinating.
“It is only natural that a tale, a story, or a thought comes to mind as an extension of my work”
According to Brigitte, an artist serves as a mediator, revealing what is otherwise invisible. It is an artist’s role to attentively listen to the world, absorbing its essence, and then transform that understanding into tangible form and expression. New forms appear on their own. Brigitte thus seizes this information to put it into a story in the form of small symbolic tales. This narrative forms dialogue with her plastic work, and opens up other paths to the imagination. What Brigitte wants above all is to instill emotion in others, to make people feel deeply about it.
Glimpse belongs to the fantasy series :
This series intends to question our perception at the border of reality. By projecting our expectations, our fears outside of ourselves, we transform the objects around us into an aesthetic experience of our own desires.
Glimpse – storytelling :
The flowers, the water, the sky, the clouds, all intermingled behind a veil. My soul wandered: into the future? into the past? into the present? I couldn’t say.
Tropics belongs to the water series :
From a simple puddle to the immense ocean, water is a mirror of life in which reality and illusion merge.
Tropic – storytelling:
I was walking along the beach in the humid heat. I could hear howler monkeys in the distance, and closer to me, parrots croaked as gusts of wind whipped the palm leaves and a waterspout moved across the horizon.
In the tropics, nature is queen, the animals live in a five-star hotel, but what about the local population ?
This seemingly chaotic process enables her to keep experimenting, embracing a joyful quest for the image that can emerge at any moment. This form of expression is, for her, both a revelation and a deeply fulfilling experience—one that brings immense joy, manifesting itself in each piece she creates, work after work.
“This random process allows me to never repeat the same gestures and to be in a joyous quest for the image that can arise at any point of time.”
“Far from wanting to freeze an apparent reality, I cause digital chaos by defying the logic of algorithms, but the essential remains: matter with all the information it contains. My viewers receive this information and what they see becomes their reality.’’
Digital is really her universe; it gives her the opportunity to let go, and offers a great source of inspiration and creativity. Brigitte’s work relies on tangible scientific data to gravitate towards the realm of spirituality. The scientific knowledge and the passion for observing the substance of things can be found in her creative process.
Diffraction 8 belongs to the diffraction series :
Light, you are divine, sometimes too perfect for our incarnation,
but when you touch us, you deviate for an instant your trajectory to color our life in a unique way.
Brigitte embraces imperfection and unpredictability as part of her creative process. Through glitch art, which involves intentional digital errors or distortions, she aligns with her artistic vision of finding beauty in mistakes and then working on it. Hence she starts destroying in order to build, realizing that there is no beginning or end.
Water lilies 6 belongs to the water lilies series :
The day before, the ripples of the pond matched the elliptical water lilies and the little turtles animated the dance between the water and the plants. Tomorrow the water lilies will close the space.
Her artistic technique leads her step by step towards the unknown and offers her a vision of the world that she could never have discovered with the sole control of her consciousness. Brigitte, as an artist, uses Artificial Intelligence as a tool to enhance her creative spontaneity, which in turn serves her intuition. It also reflects on the idea that the brain often processes information faster than conscious awareness, allowing creativity to flow instinctively.
Fenghuang belongs to the Chinese series :
This series was born from the meeting and exchange with a Chinese friend. Through the chance of emerging forms, I discovered this civilization and was enriched by its deep roots.
Fenghuang – storytelling :
The Phoenix emerged from the shadows, disengaging itself from its old, fiery-brown envelope and spreading its colorful wings exactly as it had imagined before it died.
“My artwork is an attempt, constantly renewed, to deconstruct reality to build new stories”
Urban 7 belongs to the urban series :
All these glass buildings become alive with the water and the surrounding vegetation.
They even play with each other in their reciprocal reflections.
The straightness of the lines is modulated by the ripples of the water
creating a poetic and ephemeral construction.
The unconscious is the master of the game. In this process, chance does not truly exist. In the end, meaning naturally emerges, as the brain instinctively seeks patterns and connections in the evolving forms.Through her works she shares her vision, inviting those who are willing to truly uncover this essence.
Hephaestus 3 belongs to the hephaestus series :
Hephaestus is the father of personal intelligence (PI): he gave life to the objects he forged.
He made us forget his hideous aspect behind his creations. PI extracted all the data from our minds to create an illusion between the object and the human. Could PI receive information without going through the human channel? No! Hence the urgent need to stay connected while putting technology at our service.
It is only natural that a tale, a story, or a thought emerges as an extension of her work, and she takes great pleasure in sharing this with her viewers and spectators. Based in Québec City, Canada, Brigitte continues to enchant with her artwork that is an ever-evolving attempt to deconstruct reality, weaving new narratives to reveal balance and unity in unexpected ways.
Volute 5 belongs to the volute series.
This series seeks to transcribe the movements that animate everything, from giant gas formations to the dancing curves of flowers in the fields. The scrolls are images of the world which is constantly transforming.
“Like the life cycle of stars, I destroy in order to build, for I realize that there is no beginning or end and that’s fascinating.”
