Impact of AI on Social Media

AI has inundated our lives in such a way that you’ll see a post by an AI bot on X followed by mindless yes-men comments lining the replies that also all turn out to be AI bots.
Is it time to move on permanently from social media, then?
Melting pot that it is, AI has now joined the cacophony of bickering voices online and has taken center stage.
Our own posts and comments get filtered down to promote AI content – writing, art, think pieces, and snarky comments – all written by non-human minds, so to speak. Brains aren’t the question here; AI has long since passed our own hurdles, passing the Turing Test with flying colors.
Paint and charcoal seem a thing of the past when AI has been trained to emulate most every medium, most databases are training unethically on artists who never consented to their work being fed into machines.
A real problem, such as the ethics of it aside, do we really want to be caught in an echo chamber of machines speaking over each other? Real people have a depth to them that AI is yet to be able to emulate.
Picture a human, a fraction as sycophantic as ChatGPT; they would probably sound like something akin to a 70s cartoon villain’s goon. (Now go back & read the first word of each sentence…)
