Tim Toribio
USA
_p.png)
"Tim Toribio was born under the sign of Aquarius, the water bearer, with astrological effects influencing the rise and fall of civilizations, cultural tendencies, and how to communicate with the Cosmos."
Tim was born as a US Army military brat, transcending the universe of military might with a straight regard (and disregard) for authority and the fascination of what he could do with his creative hands. Not bad for a guy who ultimately figured out the meaning of his name. In retrospect, when these two parables eventually caught up to Tim, there was a third element that would enlighten his passion for and attraction to drawing and illustrative art further.

Incorporating a vision through an artistic expression is often better realized when one sees it on a canvas. which goes back to those rebellious years in high school, getting off on cannabis, and being "high." After numerous attempts, you begin to realize why you were doing it in the first place. It was like, "What were you thinking?" Seriously, once you realize it can't stay in your head forever, you come "down to earth" with your canvas, tell a story, and awaken a metaphysical journey.
Tim’s military "bratness" had its own set of rules to follow. It was simple but sophisticated, and it seems best to describe it as a rule of thirds. Tim figured out he had needed to apply this in order to manage getting away with what he could do so he could get a better hands-on focus on his evolving childhood and love for art, especially creative illustration.
West Coast Paracas | Acrylic

The mystery of how the West coast of the Americas were discovered is perhaps merged from the wind, the land and ocean. Somewhere in that remoteness probably lies an answer. And yet, when you're there in all that remoteness, you really don't want to find out. It becomes a challenge: Why me or What do I do? Where do I go, or how do I do it? When will it happen? Self-isolation is just self-isolation au naturale.
Economically, Tim had a huge challenge. He is the youngest of five siblings. Ever searching for his niche, calling, or brand, Tim would take upon what his older siblings were good at: the oldest had a degree in architecture, the second-oldest had a degree in electronic engineering, the third-oldest was an auto technician, and the fourth-oldest had a PhD.
"The meaning of his name really awakened him. And there’s still a lot more that Tim must absorb even to this day."
Tim has a major degree in indigenous fabrics and textiles. So how does Tim put all of this into perspective while still needing to decide what direction to take and what he wants to become? It wasn’t easy. Being the youngest would make his siblings think he was stealing their work and resources. Luckily, Mom and Dad were always there as referees in case things got out of hand.

California Sun Dream Vision | Acrylic
$4,000
36 X 48
In all that Sun Dreaming there comes a thought, an inspiration, an epiphany that everything else around has a vision. The land grows, and it thanks the sunshine. And of course, the winds and breezes are always there to keep things cool!
And it isn't just on the mainland; an island's expression is just as beautiful. It's said an island is a reflection of the macro system set upon a micro system. Oh, that island vibe. You could say it doesn't get any better than that or does it really?

Santa Catalina Island Flora | Acrylic

Technologically, being an Aquarius is associated with electricity, computers, modernization, consciousness, and ultimately human destiny as true cosmic citizens. One asset of being an Aquarian is that of a communication and how his experience in art communicates and vice versa. And the affluence was there. His oldest brother taught him the love of the drafting table and how the drafting tools of pen and measure created such beautiful lines of architectural integrity.
"Tim knows his generation nowadays is a slick beamer (customized car) with the sounds of melodic hip-hop rock burning etched out on a road canvas of blacked-out tire tracks."
“Tim had finally found his passion for drawing and creative illustration and has since discovered what he’d like to do for the rest of his life.”
The second oldest deepened Tim’s curiosity about the electron. Why does it do that? Did Tim question that correctly? WHY is it that WHAT it does? Anyhow Tim’s middle oldest affinity for auto schematics and mechanical servicing got him to know how to change the motor oil. So, this is the blood of motor vehicles, so really, a car needs to stay "car-healthy." Lastly but not least, the fourth’s oldest education in World Eurasian anthropology and Indigenous Fabric and Textiles added to the quality of applied sciences. Was psychedelic technology even thought of back in the day? OM forward Tim!!

California Protea Bloom | Acrylic
$4,000

That island vibe can be quite enticing, as if it wants you to stay and never leave. It will immerse you in its colors and in its ability to make that California sunshine shine brighter. And with those Pacific Ocean winds, they become cooler with each passing breeze. You're caught in moments of euphoric symphony, smelling the scents of island flora.
Culturally, in a Latin-Asian household, the attributes of identifying both West Eurasian and East Eurasian are mind-boggling. Just how do you justify where and when all this DNA that mysteriously settled in the Western Hemisphere came from? In Tim’s household, the rule of thirds applied as a deeper understanding of having and relating to Mongol, Afro and Amerasian ancestry. (How do they even use those terms nowadays?) Strong as a black horse steered by a mindful brown rider in making out something on a blank white canvas, maybe that’s how it should be said and explained!!

Laguna Ferns n Leaves | Acrylic
$4,000
48 X 36
Your Sun Dream somehow brings you back to the west coast, rummaging thru the cool California lagoon ferns. I mean, it is such a natural feeling, and it's ok to try this in the nudist area. Totally au Naturale. It is cool to be cool!
There is this balance of the Orient and Occidental and how it is kept structured and organized. Yes, the Yin-Yang thing truly exists. Tim eventually knows you’ll get hungry somehow. Ayurveda anyone?
Seriously, there's something about California lagoons. It is where you'll want to splash and swim in some hidden paradise, taking it all in. Just cool, refreshing, relaxed, and totally carefree! Or is it?

California Water Splash | Acrylic
$4,000

"Although Tim has displayed his earlier artworks at local libraries, shopping malls, and schools, he is new to the high-end gallery art scene and is thankful for having been offered an opportunity for a solo exhibition."

Sonoran Desert Mystery Lights | Acrylic
$4,500
48 X 36
A carefree moment has its surprises. Something pops in your head as it evolves into something deeper, something Zen-deeper. You have had a Sun Dream encounter that has transported you to a place quite unfamiliar. It's like, is "Area 51" even real? Or was it a totally different visual experience?
As diverse as it was for Tim, it was a lot to absorb at his young age. One of Tim’s most profound moments of discovery was the meaning of his name. It comes from the Greek name Timόtheos meaning “honoring God,” “in God's honor,” or “honored by God.”
But at the end of the day, you're feeling like you just want to go home and enjoy some glorious California sunsets. There is nothing like a cool and calm evening watching the sunset in San Francisco Bay, knowing tomorrow will be the start of a whole new day.

San Francisco Skyline n Sunset | Acrylic
$5,000

Tim graduated with a technical graphic design degree in San Jose, California. Although Tim’s dad would’ve preferred him to pursue an engineering degree, Tim was never discouraged about his passion and creativity for drawing. Tim’s work incorporates various elements from nature, indigenous textiles and fabrics, technology, and industry. Tim’s school training included painting, sculpture, photography, prints, CGI, and works on paper.

California Big Sur Coast | Acrylic
$4,000

And so begins another day of sun, surf, and cool land breezes. My art has evolved throughout the years. from my childhood and how it has matured into adulthood. There was a lot to absorb then, and there is still a lot to absorb now. As one artistic journey ends, a new artistic journey begins. However, it might be that there is no place like California and the California Dream. Ayahuasca anyone?
"Tim resides at his studio in Alameda, California, and currently works on original digital art, photography, and aerial drone videography."
