Yellow and Black Photography Quote (1).p

"Every vibrant feather sings a fragile song of fierce survival."

Sheryl Lee draws profound inspiration from the vibrant coastal ecosystems of Florida where she was raised. Growing up surrounded by endless miles of beaches and active waterways established a deep, intrinsic connection to the natural world. This geographic immersion provided an infinite visual library of shorebirds and aquatic creatures that would eventually define her creative focus. Her formative years were spent absorbing the delicate balance of these habitats, translating the dynamic energy of the coastline into compelling visual narratives. The resulting body of work serves as a passionate tribute to the rich biodiversity of the southeastern seaboard.

Anhinga Beauty | Acrylic

$2,500

24 x 36

The Anhinga Bird has beautiful feathers, however, after fishing for food they must spread their wings to dry in order to be able to fly away and are usually seen by the side of lakes in bushes and trees with their wings spread out in full view showing off their beautifully colored feathers.

To ensure absolute authenticity in her depictions, the artist actively navigates the local waters on her personal fishing vessel. This practical approach allows for intimate observation and extensive photographic documentation of marine wildlife thriving in their undisturbed environments. Witnessing dolphins breaching, manatees resting, and baitfish scattering firsthand grants her an unparalleled understanding of animal behavior. Direct fieldwork transforms her artistic process from mere observation into an active dialogue with the sea. Consequently, every canvas bursts with the genuine vitality of the ocean.

Last Catch of the Day | Acrylic

$2,500

24 x 36

A White Pelican is seen splashing down into the water catching a fish for his meal and it is later in the day as the colors are showing sundown.

A significant portion of her recent output highlights the spectacular elegance of Florida's diverse waterbird population. The painter meticulously details the majestic posturing of Great Blue Herons, the striking plumage of Flamingos, and the vibrant hues of her personal favorite, the Roseate Spoonbill. Capturing these avian subjects as they wade through mangroves or hunt in shallow waters requires immense patience and a keen eye for anatomical precision. Each feather is rendered with deliberate care, elevating these often overlooked creatures to a status of profound reverence. Her avian portraits celebrate the quiet grace inherent in coastal survival.

"Floating quietly on open water heals my deeply restless spirit."

Before establishing her current signature style, Lee conducted extensive experimentation across a wide spectrum of traditional and digital mediums. Early explorations with graphite, delicate pastels, and fluid watercolors provided a solid technical foundation in composition and light. However, she eventually discovered that acrylic paints uniquely satisfied her demand for intense saturation and crisp detailing. Transitioning to this highly adaptable medium unlocked a new level of expressive freedom, allowing for rapid layering and bold compositional choices. Acrylics became the perfect vehicle to communicate the electric energy of the subtropics.

The transition from paper substrates to stretched canvas marked a pivotal evolution in her professional practice. This sturdy surface readily accepts heavy applications of pigment, supporting the robust physical presence required by her dynamic subjects. To finish each piece, a specialized gloss varnish is meticulously applied to seal the surface against environmental degradation. This protective coating serves a dual aesthetic purpose, dramatically amplifying the vibrancy of the colors and tricking the eye into perceiving the texture of traditional oil paints. The resulting high gloss finish gives the artwork a striking, luminous quality.

"Watching a heron patiently stalk its prey taught me that true artistry requires deep stillness, silent observation, and a profound respect for the present moment."

"Navigating the silent, glassy stretches of the coastline at dawn fundamentally changed how I perceive our fleeting existence. There is an agonizingly beautiful vulnerability in the way a solitary egret stands against the vast, indifferent ocean. I mix my colors not just to replicate their brilliant plumage, but to capture the heartbeat of a world that is slowly slipping away from us. If my canvas can make someone pause and feel the sacred weight of that fragile ecosystem, then my lifelong devotion to the brush has served its true purpose."

A restless pursuit of technical mastery drives the continuous evolution of her studio output. The painter approaches every blank canvas as an opportunity to surpass her previous achievements and explore entirely new visual perspectives. Pushing the boundaries of her own creativity prevents her practice from falling into predictable, repetitive patterns. This dedication to constant improvement ensures that her portfolio remains fresh, engaging, and utterly unique. Audiences can always expect an elevated level of sophistication with each subsequent release.

Blue Splash | Acrylic

$2,500

24 x 36

A Great Blue Heron Bird shown splashing down into a body of water and all of the water droplets arising from this activity.

Beyond their immediate aesthetic appeal, these colorful compositions function as urgent pleas for environmental conservation. The intricate beauty of the depicted wildlife sharply contrasts with the pressing ecological threats facing their fragile habitats. By showcasing the captivating allure of the shoreline, the artist hopes to inspire viewers to recognize their crucial role in planetary preservation. Art becomes a powerful catalyst for raising awareness about the devastating impacts of pollution and habitat destruction. Her vibrant creations act as a direct call to action to protect vulnerable waterways.

Flamingo Palmetto | Acrylic

$450

30 x 24

An imaginary scene with a Flamingo with a Palmetto bush incorporated into and surrounding the bird.

Instilling a profound sense of vitality into the viewer remains a primary objective of her artistic philosophy. The intense, highly saturated color palettes are deliberately chosen to evoke feelings of joy, energy, and pure aliveness. Observers are invited to temporarily escape their daily routines and immerse themselves completely in the brilliant sunshine of the coastal landscape. Through masterful manipulation of light and shadow, the paintings radiate a welcoming warmth that transforms any interior space. The artwork powerfully operates as a visual celebration of life itself.

Three Pelicans | Acrylic

$450

A recurring conceptual theme within the portfolio is the dynamic intersection where terrestrial environments meet the open ocean. This transitional zone is fraught with constant change, shaped by tidal shifts, moving sands, and fierce weather patterns. The artist excels at rendering the complex textures of this boundary, from the tangled roots of mangrove forests to the foaming crests of breaking waves. Illustrating this chaotic yet harmonious meeting point highlights the sheer resilience of the species that call it home. The coastal margin is elevated into a theater of eternal natural drama.

By inviting the public to share a deep, quiet admiration for marine biology, she fosters a global community of environmentally conscious art lovers. The enduring legacy of these vibrant acrylic pieces lies in their remarkable ability to bridge the gap between human society and the natural world.
