Kimberley Ferguson

USA

Yellow and Black Photography Quote (1).p

“OLAAT is an enchanting realm of art, where each pen stroke weaves a tale and embodies the unwavering spirit of its creator.”

Kimberley was born in 1977 in the United States in a small town in the state of Georgia. After residing there for 8 years, her mother sought better opportunities for herself and Kimberley, leading her to join the U.S. Navy for an enhanced quality of life.

The African Mirror | Ink

$5,000

12 X 9

Look into a mirror and ask yourself, 'What am I looking at?' Do you see yourself the same each and everytime? Are your eyes drawn more to the difficult side or is it drawn to only the simple side? The African Mirror is simply the mirror image of how we see ourselves. Simple, yet difficult. What one sees as difficult to themselves can be even less difficult to another. Look once again into this mirror and ask, 'What is so difficult at what I am looking at?' To me, the answer is, 'Nothing.'

Living in different locations from Japan to Virginia to multitudinous places in California, and eventually to Florida, Kimberley had the opportunity to experience diverse cultures and seize every moment with bated breath.

The Tribal Mask & Owl | Ink

$2,500

14 X 11

If someone says 41,427...one will probably wonder, 'What does that number entail?' That is the minimum number of lines that was counted while creating this picture. Look into the eyes of the picture and see The Tribal Mask reviewing you intensely. Unsure of what it thinks or how it feels. Now, notice this Tribal Mask has an Owl is watching you closely? Flip the picture other way and now what do you see? Think about it, just because one is looking, doesn't mean another is not.

Kimberley is the artist behind OLAAT with her exceptional adroit. OLAAT Art, deemed as the One Line At A Time (OLAAT), is an enchanting sphere of art wherein through every pen stroke there are tales interlaced, besides incorporating the unwavering vitality of the creator.

“Through this distinctive technique, I have learned to use clusters of small lines to bring a picture to life.”

Kimberley has explored a parable of the depths of OLAAT. She claims it to have all originated from simple drawings of shells and geometric designs, and gradually evolved into intricate, detailed artwork. She employed it as an artistic tool to fathom the use of an array of fine lines, to delineate pictures, bringing them to life. It depicts the innovation in perspective or opening horizons in the domain of art and in viewing objects.

Jesus in Focus | Ink

$2,500

14 X 11

Stand close to this picture to see the approximate 61,413 lines that provides the coloring. See the clusters, see the coloring, and see all the amazing little lines. While focusing on the lines closely, can you see the name this picture holds? If not, or even if so, separate yourself about 6 feet away and now what do you see? While away, how do you see the lines? Or really the question is, 'Can you see the lines?'

Time, patience, and determination is all that is needed to create the essence of The Aura. This is composed of the shell, bubbles, and a collage of colors, in various sizes, to complete the ambience of the design. 'Metallic lines, pastel lines, and even ones in the white; put them all together you will catch a persons sight.'

The Aura | Ink

The misfortune of fate was bestowed upon Kimberley as she encountered a challenging setback after graduating college. She suffered from epileptic seizures for seven years which disrupted her ability to perform daily activities such as working, driving, and carrying out everyday tasks. Despite spending years on medical appointments, and tests, she endured up to 20 seizures daily. It bogged down to the need for brain surgery.

“Through my determination and resilience, not only did I regain my artistic abilities but also developed a fresh spectrum of styles in my artwork.”

“I received epileptic seizures for over seven years, which significantly impacted my ability to work, drive, and carry out everyday tasks.”

Undergoing brain surgery was an arduous decision as it could follow many aftermaths, such as the risk of affecting speech, motor skills, cognitive behavior, and even Kimberley's desire to create art. However, after deliberating on it carefully she made the courageous choice to undergo the surgery.

Lineful Blocks | Ink

$2,500

14 X 11

Line after line...all put together to create the coloring of this design. Look close to see the clusters that makes the correlation of this image. Step back to envision the illusion. While away at a distance, concenteate on the clusters that entails the color. See the 3D vision of the small design within the large. Ask yourself, 'What captures me the most?' Is it the closeness or the distance, the larger or the small? With challenging things throughout ones life, you cannot have it all.

Following years of recovery, speech therapy, and adjusting to her new way of life, Kimberley eventually found the courage to resume her artistic endeavors. Kimberley, had immense resilience and determination, through which she restituted her artistic skills and similarly formed a fresh gamut of styles in her artwork.

Shells of the Night | Ink

$1,000

12 X 9

Many stars can brighten the shade of the night. Simply relax, breathe, and clear your thoughts. Now imagine, intsead of stars you see hundreds or thousands of lines in this night. Observe the lines forming to shells along with seeing the creativity used to enhance the feeling of the night. The complete togetherness in the night requires trust, determination, and most of all patience.

Instead of considering her brain seizures a setback, Kimberley viewed it as an opportunity to fight her way and delve further into the profundity of art. Kimberley holds an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Information Technology. While these academic achievements are noteworthy, Kimberley's true profound yearning lies in art.

This is a tedious 'Switch Pen' style designed on smooth black paper. Metallic gold (determination) and calming (peaceful) white are rotated after every line drawn. We all learn that darkness to light is the journey through many things in life. Take the time to think that in order to succeed, patience is all that we need.

In 2023, Kimberley was selected as one of around 50 artists to partake in the Visions in Black Art Exhibition in Sarasota, Florida. In 2024, her work was featured in the Art on Loop and Future Stars Exhibition, both hosted in Barcelona, Spain. She is an ardent believer in achieving success through determination and perseverance.

Everything in life can be a different colorful puzzle. Think about within yourself: every piece inside of is unique, yet similar in many ways. Patience is what has been taught to all and is what is tested throughout life. The moral of the patience course should be within the mind. Once this knowledge has been learned numerous things can be accomplished throughout the duration of life.

Candyland | Ink
