Joe Maibach

USA

Yellow and Black Photography Quote (1).p

"My passion for art knows no bounds."

Joe Maibach is an up-and-coming, self-taught fine art painter, whose passion for art knows no bounds. With a keen eye for detail and a unique artistic style, he captivates audiences with his masterful use of high chroma and high contrast colors.

Rachel | Acrylic

$500

20 X 16

"Rachel" is Joe's adoptive cousin who lives on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. This painting was inspired from an image that his cousin had posted on social media. Intrigued by the way the light and shadow had captured Rachel, he decided to abandon painting convention and apply layers of paint from light to dark. Painted during COVID lockdown, "Rachel" seeks to capture vulnerability; and hopefully that vulnerability can remind us that none of us are, or were, truly alone.

Joe's journey as a painter began unexpectedly at a wine and paint night, where he discovered his hidden talent and could not resist the allure of the canvas. Since that fateful night, he has dedicated himself to perfecting his craft, constantly pushing the boundaries of his creativity by attempting more and more challenging pieces with every painting he creates.

Venetian Canal | Acrylic

$500

24 X 18

"Venetian Canal" began as a study of how warm light can make you feel the air temperature in a painting, and how the use of value and contrast can create a three-dimensional effect. Experimenting with a medium (clear acrylic paint) for the first time, Joe painted a scene that captures exactly what he set out to do.

Based in the rural town of Warrenton, VA, Joe finds himself in a picturesque landscape, rich in cultural heritage, rolling hills, farms, and historic sites. Since moving there a year ago, these sites have proved to be the perfect backdrop for his upcoming artistic explorations. With each stroke of his brush, he aims to capture the essence of the world's natural beauty, infusing it with his own unique artistic vision; and the town of Warrenton is proving to be the perfect muse for what's to come.

"I've dedicated myself to perfecting my craft, constantly pushing the boundaries of my creativity."

Joe's artistic vision is characterized by his use of high chroma and high contrast colors. He believes that vibrant color has the power to evoke strong emotions and create a connection between the viewer and the artwork. His paintings are known for their boldness, as he fearlessly experiments with color combinations to create visually striking compositions. He believes that our approach to the world we live in is never the same, and the approach to art should be no different.

Self-Portrait | Acrylic

$500

20 X 16

Joe's self-portrait is the perfect encapsulation of what his personality is like. A notorious class clown, Joe enjoys being in the center of the spotlight and encouraging people to laugh.

Daria is likely Joe's favorite piece to date. The photo was taken by Alice Alinari, a photographer and creative artist based in Barcelona, Spain. The model is a woman named Daria Ilyushina, who posed for Alice in an underwater tank filled with water. This was Joe's first time experimenting with movement in such a dramatic fashion. The hands, the hair, and the dress provided immense learning opportunities for how colors are integral in the way an image comes alive.

Daria | Acrylic

$1,000

40 X 30

Although Joe is a self-taught artist, his dedication to his craft and relentless pursuit of excellence have allowed him to forge his own path in the art world. He has spent countless hours studying the works of the old masters, learning from their techniques and incorporating their wisdom into his own artistic process. Through trial and error, he has honed his skills and developed a unique style that sets him apart from other painters in the genre.

"My art reflects the complexity and depth of the human experience."

"The unwavering support and encouragement of my loved ones have been instrumental in my artistic growth."

Beyond his technical skills, Joe's work also reflects his deep emotions and personal experiences. Each painting tells a story, inviting viewers to step into a world of beauty, emotion, and introspection. His art reflects the complexity and depth of the human experience, capturing moments of joy, contemplation, and vulnerability.

Indian Village | Acrylic

$500

24 X 20

"Indian Village" was a study of using a palette knife to bring to life temperature, movement, and shadows. Being Joe's second attempt at using a palette knife, he employed the lessons in visual acuity from previous studies to bring to life a village in the region of Maharastra, India.

While Joe is undoubtedly dedicated to his craft, his personal life is also an integral part of his artistic journey. He lives with his loving husband and their cherished dog. Their unwavering support and encouragement have been instrumental in Joe's artistic growth, providing him with the emotional stability and inspiration necessary to create his masterpieces.

Bonifacio | Acrylic

$1,000

30 X 48

"Bonifacio" depicts a cliff town bearing the same name in Corsica, France. The source image, taken by Joe in 2021, provided great inspiration as to how intricate details can come together for a greater whole. It remains his most challenging painting to date.

In just seven years, Joe Maibach has made a name for himself in the art world, with his works being displayed in several online galleries and private collections around the country. His unique artistic style and ability to transport viewers into a world of beauty and emotion have garnered him several awards, including a "Best in Show" award in his first-ever juried competition.

"Still Water" depicts a simple boat floating calmly beside a dock, and is Joe's first attempt at a large canvas done solely in black and white.

Still Water | Acrylic

$500

36 X 48

"As a true visionary, I always seek new ways to express my unique perspective."

Italian Boat | Acrylic

$500

36 X 48

The source image taken by Joe on a trip to Italy in 2017, the "Italian Boat" shows Joe's foray in the world of large painting. It is also here where Joe discovered his love for vibrant color and dramatic values.

As a true visionary, Joe continues to push the boundaries of his art, always seeking new ways to express his unique perspective. He approaches each new canvas with a sense of wonder and curiosity, allowing his creativity to flow freely. His dedication to his craft and his commitment to creating breathtaking masterpieces make him a force to be reckoned with in the world of realism painting.

Being an avid space enthusiast, the "Bubble Nebula" is one of three in a series Joe did celebrating the vastness and beauty of the cosmos. To create this painting, Joe meticulously placed the stars first, and used them to guide the rest of the painting. As a result, the stars are true-to-scale, and appear as they would in the night sky.

With each new creation, Joe continues to leave a lasting impression on all who behold his artistry.

Tracy |Acrylic

This painting was a reimagined version of "The Young Martyr" by Paul Delaroche. After seeing the original painting in the Louvre (Paris, France), Joe enlisted the help of his friend Tracy to recreate the scene.
