"My art captures precious, shared moments and forgotten life experiences."
Jill Nassau, an artist shaped by the “Flower Child” era of the 1960s, embraces the philosophy that love and relationships are at the core of happiness. Her artwork seeks to capture and celebrate the subtle yet meaningful moments that define human connection. Through her work, she aims to evoke forgotten memories in viewers, hoping they will recognize their own experiences within her art. If someone looks at her paintings and thinks, “I can relate,” she considers her mission accomplished.

I saw a man and his dog walking up the hill behind my house in late afternoon. The sky was a beautiful mix of colors, and I was inspired to recreate this scene on canvas. I used oil paints because of their vivid hues and my impasto style for depth and drama.
Her oil on canvas paintings are primarily figurative, often focusing on personal, intimate moments. Jill Nassau’s portraits aim to capture singular events that are deeply meaningful to the subject. She explores the idea of whether a personal experience—like the joy of an ice cream cone on a summer day—can be truly shared. Her work reflects both the humor and mystery of everyday life, revealing how people interact in profound and unexpected ways.
Twilight Time | Oil

One late afternoon, I saw this sunset and lake in Late Winter. I felt its beauty had to be captured on canvas in my new oil impasto style. I would want the viewer to experience the cold drama of the scene and feel serene. The colors are exciting, and the impending sunset is dramatic. I used oil paints on canvas to capture these feelings.
The ocean is a recurring inspiration in her paintings. Jill Nassau is drawn to the movement of water, the way reflections dance on its surface, and how the waves shift between calm and ferocity. For her, the presence of the ocean is uplifting, almost otherworldly. She translates these emotions into her art, using brush and paint to capture the light, color, and energy of the natural world.
"My sculptures shine with color, capturing relationships and magical memories."
In addition to painting, Jill Nassau creates glass sculptures that blend clay and resin, adorned with intricate cut glass. These pieces shimmer with color, adding a three-dimensional vibrancy to her artistic vision. The subjects of her sculptures often depict relationships or events that hold personal significance. She particularly enjoyed working on her Circus Scenes, as they allowed her to revisit childhood memories filled with color, excitement, and magic.

Sunny Day | Oil
$800

I was inspired to paint this picture on a colorful sunny day in early fall. I used oils on canvas for the creamy nature of the paints and an Impasto style for texture. Since I have gotten older, I have become much more aware of the beauty of nature and want to impart that in my paintings. I hope the viewer will remember a wonderful autumn day and experience a sense of joy.
I was inspired when one day I saw my two Border Collies romping the garden. It was a beautiful day, and you could smell the flowers. I felt I had to capture this nature scene on canvas. I love the physical texture of flowers and portrayed that with an Impasto technique. I used Oil on Canvas because I like the creamy feel of those paints, and I thought I could best capture this moment. I hope the viewer feels the warmth of summer and sees the pure joy of the day when they view this work.

Pals | Oil

Her artistic exploration extends to mixed media drawings that incorporate abstraction, figurative elements, and expressionism. Using markers, ink, and watercolor on cold-pressed paper, she translates past memories into a modern abstract style. These smaller works serve as deeply personal reflections, reinterpreting moments from her life through a contemporary lens.
"My oil paintings are figurative, capturing singular, personal events, blending humor, mystery, and the fascinating ways we interact in daily life through my artistic vision."
"I find endless inspiration in the way we interact—sometimes with humor, sometimes with mystery, always with meaning. The beach and ocean captivate me—figures bathed in sunlight, draped in vibrant colors, moving in harmony with the waves. Water lifts my spirit; its shimmering reflections and crashing tides are both soothing and powerful, evoking an almost otherworldly presence. With brush and paint, I chase these fleeting moods, translating them onto canvas. Nature speaks to me—trees, sky, flowers, and water—I cherish them all. As I grow older, their beauty resonates even deeper, compelling me to capture their essence before the moment fades."
Jill Nassau’s most recent work includes two distinct oil on canvas series: Expressionistic Portraits and a Nature and Floral collection. In her portrait series, she seeks to reveal aspects of her subjects' personalities and inner emotions. She often integrates birds as symbolic elements, adding layers of meaning to each piece.

Autumn Forest | Oil
$800

I saw the sun shining through the trees and was inspired to capture that scene in nature. I am inspired, also by the seasons and the beautiful colors. I used the Impasto technique for the leaves and the trees to express the texture and feeling. I hope the viewer will feel the warm sun when they view this picture and remember fall days from their past.
Her love for nature is a driving force in her artistic journey. Trees, sky, flowers, and water all hold special significance for her, and she finds herself increasingly drawn to capturing their beauty. With time, she has come to appreciate these natural elements even more, feeling a deep desire to immortalize them on canvas.

The Green Dress | Oil
$2,200
18 X 24
I was inspired to paint this work when I was at a club and saw a young, pretty woman swaying to the music. I wanted to have my viewers feel relaxed and mellow. I choose oils on canvas to portray the motion and beauty and rhythm. I feel oils are very dramatic and colorful and would best express my emotions.
To bring depth and emotion to her work, Jill Nassau employs an impasto technique, using thick layers of paint to create texture and drama. This technique enhances the dynamic quality of her paintings, making them feel alive with movement and energy.
I was inspired to paint this picture by watching a young couple looking at each other at the at the casino. I wanted to catch this scene on canvas and started working on it immediately when I got home. I wanted to portray to the viewer the excitement of the casino and I thought I could express this scene best in Oil. I hope when the viewer sees this painting, they will feel joy and adventure. I always loved the bright colors of the casino and the festive atmosphere.

Spirit Window | Oil
$1,800

I was inspired to create this work when I saw a woman standing by a stained-glass window with the light streaming in. It was a surreal experience. I could see her beauty through the light. The bird represents her spirit guide. I hope my viewers will be uplifted by my painting and want to add it to their collection. I chose oil paint on canvas because of its brilliance and depth. The style is expressionism, and it is the fourth in my new portrait series.
Whether through oil paintings, glass sculptures, or mixed media pieces, Jill Nassau’s work is a testament to the beauty of human connection and the natural world. She continues to evolve as an artist, exploring new techniques and themes while staying true to the emotions and memories that drive her creativity.
I was inspired to do this portrait when I saw a retired gentleman reading a paper. I photographed him and finished the portrait in my studio. My new piece illustrates the old adage, "Wisdom comes with age." The owl represents Wisdom and is the spirit guide of the man. I hope my viewers will understand the meaning of this painting and understand that older citizens are valuable for their knowledge and histories. I chose oil on canvas to illustrate my new style.

Ultimately, her art is about resonance—whether through a shared memory, a moment of joy, or the recognition of something deeply familiar. If her work stirs a feeling in the viewer, making them pause and reflect, she knows she has succeeded in her artistic journey.

Cheers | Oil

I was inspired by a beautiful woman sitting in a cafe having a drink. The sunlight reflected off her face turning the shadows beautiful shades of blue. I wanted to capture this scene in bright, happy colors. I hope the viewers who see this piece will be uplifted and smile. I choose to work in oil paintings because of the rich, flowing colorful colors. The expressive style makes the work more dynamic.
"I translate past memories into abstract, figurative, and expressionistic portraits."
