Born and raised in Switzerland, Gabriele was always inspired by art. She loved to paint ever since she was a child. However, her individualism was often her undoing at school.

Blue mountains is a memory of a long ago trip to the fifth continent. The untouched nature and the sheer infinity of forests and rock formations left an unforgettable impression.
The teacher's instructions on how she had to paint constricted her. Why should the roof of a house be brown if one perceived it as blue? Even at that young age she believed that boundaries were meant to be broken. And that is exactly how she wants her art to be understood.

After not being accepted at the Art School in Lucerne she started a career in the travel industry. In 2003 she moved to Vienna with her family and relocated to Los Angeles only one year later. Finally, they settled further South in Laguna Beach.

The artsy town of Laguna Beach was home for 7 years and inspired her in many ways. She met many artists in the local art community, visited the outstanding galleries in town and felt the urge to be creative. She took different art classes in L.A. and attended lamp work courses in Escondido but her busy work schedule never left her enough time to focus on her biggest dream.

In 2019, a few years after returning from the US, she finally realized that she could no longer put off her dream of being an artist. She quit her office job and is now pursuing a career as a self-taught artist.
“She loves to explore, improvise and experiment with different medias like acrylics, spray paint, pastels, crayons, oil and encaustic.”
“Everything is possible, everything has a place and everything you want to express should be expressed. Beauty comes from within and must be allowed.”
She allows her subconsciousness to tell a story and with every brushstroke a painting comes to life. At first, she never knows how a painting will turn out but she always knows when a painting is finished.

Some paintings stay unfinished in her studio for weeks until a sudden feeling tells her how to complete it. She loves to work in different formats, sometimes big and bold and at other times small and refined.

Riding on a boat in the mediterranean at sunset is a childhood memory not to be forgotten
She is magically attracted to artists such as Hundertwasser, Nikki de Saint Phalle, Yayoi Kusama or Waldemar Kolbusz. Their works of art speak a language she likes to read.

Thoughts of Las Vegas must have influenced this painting
Her best friend works at the Kunsthaus Zurich and regularly invites her to exhibitions and guided tours. This opens up a world in which she is happy to immerse herself.

In September 2021 Gabriele got the chance to exhibit her work at the FATartFair in Schauffhausen and in November 2021 had the opportunity to put on an exhibition at the Galerie Milchhuette in Zumikon. Step by step she is living her dream and could not be happier.
