Eva Fellner

AUSTRIA

Yellow and Black Photography Quote (1).p

“My work is rooted in personal experience and thoughtful observation.”

Eva Fellner was born in Hungary and has lived in Vienna, Austria since 1977. Her creative journey began in childhood, when she started sculpting clay figures. Each year, her family vacationed to the Great Hungarian Plain, where she was exposed to a pottery workshop that would deeply influence her early artistic interests.

Two bodies, four arms, two faces – and yet all appears as one. The figures hold each other, like mirrored reflections, bound through touch and gaze. The composition feels both tender and unsettling, evoking themes of inner fragmentation or profound connection. A painting about identity, trust, and the fragile balance between self and other.

At just 14 years old, Eva received her first recognition by winning first prize in a Budapest school competition for small sculptures. As she grew, her passion expanded beyond sculpture—she developed a love for drawing and illustrated many of the books she read during her youth.

Three women Love the Life– united in a moment of quiet joy. Their bodies rest in harmony, their gestures speak of closeness, trust, and the strength of feminine connection. One carries new life within her – her gaze is soft, her presence filled with expectation and hope. The work celebrates the beauty of womanhood, the power of togetherness, and the quiet poetry of becoming.

Upon entering university, Eva began working as a conservator at the Hungarian National Gallery. Alongside her academic and professional pursuits, she took intensive art classes five times a week at Desi Huber’s Artist Circle. She also trained in graphic design and porcelain painting, ultimately completing her studies as a certified shop-window decorator.

“My art reveals intimate insight through soft expressions and movements.”

Eva further honed her skills through courses at the Art School on Lazarettstraße in Vienna, and attended seminars led by Professor Fischer at the Academy of Fine Arts and Professor Kaiser at the University of Applied Arts. She also participated in a specialized training program where she learned the painting techniques of the old masters under the guidance of George Gheorghen.

Dreaming of the Sea was created during the isolation of the pandemic – a time when travel was impossible. The painting reflects a deep longing for distance, freedom, and open space. The sea becomes a symbol of an inner refuge, a quiet dream blending hope and memory.

A vibrant, abstract painting featuring multiple interwoven faces. The shapes are soft and surreal, with flowing, organic lines. Bold colors – red, blue, yellow, and green – evoke emotion, diversity, and connection. The intertwined faces suggest unity and human closeness.

Her prolific career includes participation in over 100 national and international exhibitions. Notable venues include the 16th and 17th Seoul International Art Festivals (2007, 2009), Biennale Florence, Gallery 24 Dumbo in New York, the International Art Festival in Kiev, Seihoun Gallery in Los Angeles, and events in Athens, Las Vegas, Santa Fe, Germany, Barcelona, Mexico, Hungary, Colombia, Argentina, Miami, Toronto, and the Rostov Museum Grekof. She has also shown work at the Henan Art Museum in Zhengzhou, China.

“I use the flow of my brush to create gestures that connect shapes with sinewy, expressive lines—organic, fluid, and as voluptuous as nature itself.”

“For me, creating is work—a process full of unexpected outcomes. I never begin with preliminary drawings; instead, I let the experience guide the piece, allowing it to take shape on its own terms. What emerges is a reflection of that journey. I’ve developed a distinct figurative style, shaped by my use of color and dynamic movement, which gives each figure a unique dimensionality. I work across multiple mediums, and in my graphic work, I explore various techniques—ranging from pencil, crayon, charcoal, and ink to high-pressure print methods like monotype and lino cut. After printing, I enhance each piece with colored pencils or acrylics, transforming them into one-of-a-kind works.”

Eva’s contributions have earned her prominent roles in the international art community. She represented Austria at the Museum of the Americas in Miami and serves as Director of the International Artists Association in Hungary (21C ICAA). She is affiliated with several international artist groups and is also a member of the Guild of Fine Artists Austria.

Sun and Sea portrays an older woman swimming peacefully in the foreground, calm and at one with the water. In the background stands a young woman, accompanied by a white dove – the timeless symbol of peace. The painting weaves together generations, nature, and hope. It speaks of inner peace, the cycle of life, and a universal longing for harmony.

From 2010 to 2013, Eva owned and operated the “Vienna Travel Gallery.” Her accomplishments have been featured in several publications, including Successful People in Germany and Austria (2015), Encyclopedia of Fantastic Female Artists by Gerard Habarta (2017), and Jewish Women in the Visual Arts V by Hedwig Brenner. She was named a winning artist in The World’s Greatest Erotic Art Today Vol. 3, which included a U.S. book tour and exhibition series. Her work has been featured in newspapers both in Austria and abroad, including Muscadine Magazine in June 2021.

Stroll is a cheerful, life-affirming painting depicting a joyful woman surrounded by colorful flowers. The vibrant colors and gentle motion of the figure convey a sense of ease, happiness, and harmony with nature – a moment of lightness and inner peace.

Eva’s recent artistic direction offers intimate insights expressed through soft gestures and captured movements. Her flowing brushstrokes form a continuous dialogue between shapes, guided by a sinewy and organic line technique that is both natural and sensuous.

This colorful, dreamlike artwork depicts a floating butterfly with a human face – a delicate fusion of nature and soul. Its uniqueness lies in being a rotatable image, telling a different story depending on the viewer’s orientation. From one angle, the butterfly soars upward, full of hope and lightness. Rotate it, and it seems to plummet – symbolizing failure or release. Other positions reveal stillness or even a dance-like motion through space. The radiant wings in hues of pink, blue, green.

“My work explores how beings interact with the environment, shaping life independently.”

Between light and shadow emerges a mysterious face – surrounded by flowing lines that evoke thoughts or energy. The abstract forms merge with the figure, blurring the boundary between inner reflection and outward appearance. The work radiates a quiet intensity – calm and powerful at once.

People remain the central theme in Eva’s work, which is shaped by both her personal experiences and keen observations. At its core, her work reflects the idea that every living being interacts with its surroundings and governs its own path. Many of her thematic inspirations are derived from the exhibitions she takes part in, often evolving through emotional reflection and deep introspection.

Bathed in warm red and golden tones, the painting portrays a sensual scene of three intertwined figures – two men and a woman. The woman, with closed eyes, stands at the center, embodying introspection or surrender. The flowing, flame-like lines connect the bodies, evoking desire, intimacy, and the subtle tension between spirit and temptation.

For Eva, the act of creating is laborious yet liberating—a process that often leads to unexpected results. She rarely sketches beforehand, allowing the painting to develop organically. Her figurative style is distinguished by expressive use of color and dynamic movement, which adds depth to each composition. Working across various mediums, she applies techniques ranging from pencil, crayon, charcoal, and ink to high-pressure printing methods like monotype and linocut. After printing, she enhances each piece with colored pencils or acrylic paint, turning every print into a unique creation. She also accepts commissioned works, using only high-quality oil paints and refined techniques to deliver expressive, personalized pieces—completely risk-free.

Devils and Angels | Oil

The scene is surreal and powerful: a mysterious, mask-like woman dominates a reclining figure. Her posture is confident, almost theatrical – oscillating between dominance, seduction, and myth. The intense colors and fiery background heighten the emotional tension. A painting that speaks of power, identity, and the ambiguity of human connection.

“I place people at the center of all my work.”
