Yellow and Black Photography Quote (1).p

“The most important thing I try to attain with each painting is to create a presence of life and joy that can add color and hope to one's gloomiest day.”

Carolynn Redwine Geer was born in Washington D.C. She is self-taught. At the age of seventeen she was hired as an apprentice fashion illustrator for Giant department stores in the Washington D.C. area.

Matisse Dunking for Donuts | Acrylic

$3,600

36 X 36

I've always been drawn to Matisse's use of color and pattern. I decided to use part of one of his paintings for this work, incorporating my love of sweets into the design. Hopefully he's ok with me replacing his fish with chocolate donuts.

What began as a summer job, right out of high school, ended up becoming a life-time career as an illustrator. She has illustrated several children's books, her paintings have been reproduced in a collection of greeting cards, and book covers for Watermark Press.

Music in Margaritaville | Acrylic

$3,200

40 X 30

My love of music and margaritas inspired this painting. I started creating paintings with a music theme some years ago. I recently started a new series of paintings to pay homage to my cousin who was an awesome musician and great guy. He's dearly missed.

In 2018 her painting the "Mother's Heart" was included in the yearlong exhibition "Parenting an Art Without a Manual" at The American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore Maryland. The painting is part of the museum's permanent collection.

“My artworks were featured twice in American Artist magazine.”

She was fortunate to have worked with people early on in her career who taught her the basics of layout and design. She uses this knowledge when she starts a new painting, she sketches each element separately so she can move the image around on the paper or canvas until she is satisfied with the composition.

Red Peppers with Amaryllis Bud | Acrylic

$3,600

36 X 36

The vintage table in this painting belonged to my grandmother. I often like to use objects in my paintings that have special meaning to me. I also like to add partial images of past paintings when I can. The painting within this painting, in the upper right corner, is from the painting "Chocolate Doughnuts on a Yellow Table, Yum"

The Amaryllis is one of my favorite flowers to paint. I've surrounded it with color and several different fabric patterns. The table has been in my family for many years.

Red Amaryllis on Biedermeier Table | Acrylic

$3,200

40 X 30

When she begins to work on a new painting, she typically starts with something she has seen that interests her. Carolynn likes to think about the possibilities a piece of china or pottery, a flower or a scrap of fabric might bring.

“Choices are based on color, texture and design, and I tend to select objects that are unusual and will present a challenge to translate to paper or canvas.”

“In 1996 one of my paintings became part of the Permanent Collection of Maryland Artists at the University of Maryland Global Campus, The Doris Patz Collection.”

She loves the use of color and pattern which takes precedence over realism, as she takes liberties by using distortion, various size relationships, odd angles, flattened perspective, and brush strokes that evoke a sense of movement.

Sunflowers and Purple Figs | Acrylic

$4,200

40 X 40

Sunflowers make me smile! You will find them in many of my paintings. I blended several different patterns of pottery in this painting and managed to sneak in a yummy puff pastry. You can find the purple fig painting and the pastry in a couple of my other paintings. At my most recent solo show I challenged people to see if they could spot them. Everyone has a good time with that.

Some of her achievements are listed as: 2022 Artist Emporium solo show, 2019 Artist Emporium Havre de Grace Maryland, 2018 "Parenting an Art Without a Manual" The American Visionary Art Museum Baltimore Maryland, and 2017 Permanent Collection American Visionary Art Museum.

Australian Lilly Pilly Berries with Daffodil in Chaumeil 1912 Ceramic Vase | Acrylic

$4,200

40 X 40

I had fun with this painting mixing different patterns and exaggerating the size of the flower and berries. Elements of the table are pure imagination. Sometimes realty simply doesn't work.

2011-2020 Carolina Moon Designs Fine Art and Murals, 2008 Exhibition of Paintings for Friends of Sherwood House, 2006 Mural for TLC's "Trading Spaces" TV show, 2005-20010 Gallery Roca Havre de Grace Maryland, 2004-2010 Renaissance Fine Arts Bethesda Maryland, 2004-2010 Merritt Gallery Haveford. PA 1999 PictureScapes Gallery solo show, 1998 "Illuminations J's" Exhibit.

The inspiration for this painting started with the brass pot and the piece of amethyst. I knew I wanted to use Lotus flowers in the brass pot. The rest of the painting easily fell into place once I completed those elements.

$3,600

“In 1985 my artworks were presented in both Towson State Exhibition and Art on Paper Annapolis Exhibition.”

Chocolate Doughnuts on a Yellow Table, Yum! | Acrylic

$3,200

40 X 30

When I can't find the perfect piece of pottery, I design it myself. That's the case with the pitcher the peony is in. Sometimes I find it's best to simply use my imagination. Working like this can be a challenge but is also a lot of fun.

1996-1998 Waxlander Khadoure Gallery, Santa Fe New Mexico. 1995 University of Maryland Global College the Doris Patz Permanent Collection of works by Maryland Artists, 1993 University of Maryland Medical System, commissioned paintings for Lobby.

I have always loved flowers. I particularly enjoy working on large canvases when painting them. I work using bold brush strokes giving the flowers the illusion of movement. I almost always add some of the same design elements I use for my music themed paintings.

Swirling Yellow Tulips | Acrylic

$3,250

30 X 30

In 1993 Featured in Watercolor 93 an American Artist Magazine, 1992 Muse Gallery solo show, 1989 Capricorn Gallery Bethesda Maryland solo show. 1986-1990 Capricorn Gallery Bethesda Maryland, 1986 Featured in American Artist Magazine
1985 Baltimore Watercolor Society Centennial Exhibition at City Hall Baltimore Maryland.

Dessert Buffet | Acrylic

$2,475

30 X 30

Delicious fun working on this painting. These yummy desserts are sitting on a Mackenzie Childs table my cousin has. Even though I love to bake sweets I can't take credit for the ones in this painting. The partial image of the painting in the upper right corner was taken from one of my large floral paintings. The frame that surrounds it has a three-dimensional design on it.

“My paintings are included in both private and public collections.”
