To delve deeper into this career, he moved to the United States in 2015 after completing his graduation. It was only after moving to an entirely foreign land that he discovered the beauty of portraits drawn out of colored pencils and has been fascinated with them ever since.
“I find that painting is a beautiful and happy thing.”
The venture of dabbling into portrait also got him numerous first prizes in several international painting and portrait competitions. One of his first prize-winning portraits has also been featured in the publications of the Artist Magazine and the American Art Collector Magazine.

Xiong Yanteng is highly influenced by Leng Jun, a contemporary Chinese hyper-realist oil painter. Xiong thinks Leng Jun's works have reached the master level of “delicate but not greasy, lifelike but not real.” Especially when Xiong saw his original works, he admired him very much and hoped that he could paint like him, using hyper-realistic techniques.
“Painting calms me and makes me forget the trivial and troublesome things in life. I prefer to be alone compared to the noisy crowd."
“I really admire Leng Jun’s work. Each of his portraits is painted with unique techniques, and every hair and eyebrow is carefully rendered, striving to achieve a warm and realistic portrait. It is mesmerizing, seeing his work.”
Xiong’s works have been exhibited in various galleries across New York, Los Angeles, and Beijing. He has displayed them through both national art exhibitions and solo shows at various places both online and offline.
