“Art is for everyone, at every age. My motto is Love, Laugh, Create, and be INSPIRED!”
Whitney loves creating art, whether it’s through dance, photography, or designing scarves and greeting cards from her flower photography. During the pandemic in NYC, she began photographing flowers on her walks to and from work to help ease the difficulties of dealing with COVID while working in senior living. She self-published a book - “Beauty in the Midst of Chaos: A Pandemic Flower Journal” - and started her own small business, INSPIRED FLORAL DESIGNS NYC-LLC.

This photograph is titled Orange Delight. The color orange brings about happiness and this photograph resembles just that.
Whitney feels that approaching her creativity with spontaneity and an open heart and mind is exciting, as one never knows what might be discovered. On her walks around NYC or wherever she may be, she is always ready to capture beauty through her camera.
Beauty in Abundance | Color Photography

This photograph is truly Beauty in Abundance. When I began to photograph this stunning bouquet of flowers they began to dance for me. As a dancer, I see movement in flowers that others may not see.
As a child growing up on the grounds of her family-owned senior living community in N.C., Whitney has indelible memories of observing, touching, and smelling the stunning flowers grown by her grandmother. Flowers have always been an integral part of her life.
“Making art shareable and wearable is what I enjoy most!”
In 2009 Whitney founded Tuesdays@4, an innovative intergenerational program with a mission to bring generations together through various forms of dance, art, poetry, improvisation, and music - inspired by stories and personal experiences. During the early years of this group, she produced and directed sold-out performances in NYC for prestigious venues such as the Museum of Jewish Heritage, the 92nd Street Y and NYU Medical Center.

Infinite Beauty | Color Photography

In the delicate petals of a flower, we find a glimpse of infinite beauty unfurling before us. Each bloom, a masterpiece of nature's artistry, whispers secrets of grace and resilience. Flowers speak a language of love and transcendence, inviting us to pause and marvel at their timeless elegance. In their fleeting yet profound presence, we are reminded of the boundless beauty that surrounds us, ever-present and ever-changing, a reminder to cherish each moment and embrace the wonder of life. Captured in a moment of spontaneous beauty, this stunning rose blooms as if painted by the hand of nature herself. Its petals unfurl with grace, revealing a tapestry of delicate hues that dance in the sunlight. Each petal holds a story of resilience and elegance. In this spontaneous photograph, we are reminded of the timeless allure of nature's creations and the magic that unfolds when we embrace the beauty of the present moment.
When I photographed this stunning rose, it was truly all alone in a small garden in the West Village, NYC that I walk through almost every day. The colors and the simplicity of it spoke to me while also being a very powerful presence in the space.

Centered around the motif of support, the participants delved deeper into one’s own creativity and imagination, free of judgment. Whitney has more than 23 years of experience working with the senior population in Independent & Assisted Living Communities and those living with dementia-related diseases. Whitney has been featured in the NY Times, Tribeca Trib, ALLURE Beauty Magazine, the NY Post, and numerous podcasts about senior living, Alzheimer's/dementia, and aging. She has danced professionally on stages across the U.S., in rock tours, music videos, TV, film, and at the competitive level in ballroom.
“When I'm photographing flowers, I see them as I see a dance, whether it's a single flower or a solo, a duet, a trio, or a group performance.”
“My extensive background in dance has had a profound effect on my work in the visual arts.”
When she clicks, there is magic happening - the magic of growth, rebirth, love, and eternal change. The flowers are living and vibrant creatures, almost ready to speak. Within stillness there is movement. Flowers are the embodiment of beauty without limits. And the movement within them is limitless as well - petals opening, petals closing, petals falling off, the process of wilting, a ballet with a bee or a bird.

These tulips truly put on a performance for me when I began photographing them. As a dancer, I see so much movement in flowers that reminds me of a dance. I decided to name them etendre meaning to extend and stretch the limbs in French.
These are all delicate and exquisite conversations - true beauty, and the beauty she loves to capture. As a flower grows and blooms to its fullest self, then, wilts and returns to the earth, there is a dance happening within. We are here to witness just that if we pay close attention… if we are open, spontaneous, and in the present moment. All that is asked of us is to open our eyes and hearts to the beauty that surrounds us in the wondrous world of flowers.

This flower has such stunning colors, texture, and detail that to me it exemplifies the word 'passionate'.

As I walked through my favorite small garden in the West Village here in NYC these two beauties popped out at me. They were together in a space with no other flowers. I photographed them and as I looked back I thought to myself these two are the perfect duet.

This beautiful flower Purple Rain I photographed on my walk to work during the height of the pandemic here in NYC. My walks to and from work included photographing stunning flowers along the West Side as it helped ease the anguish of dealing with Covid while working in senior living. I was greeted by so many gorgeous flowers every day.
Providing a meaningful, purposeful, healthy, and expressive environment for the seniors is of paramount importance to her. A graduate of Columbia College BFA Dance Performance & Choreography with a focus on modern dance and kinesiology, her work is shaped by personal connections and stories shared by her senior adult population.
These stunning tulips remind me of a dance ensemble… the movement and flow of the petals and stem create a beautiful dance.

Her tireless dedication to her seniors is exemplified by the innovative and enriching programs she brings to them each day. Whitney consistently goes out of her way to ensure that she's cultivating a happy and creative chapter in their lives, which in turn has shaped her life too. She is devoted to bringing people together and awakening the possibilities that lie within them.

Soul Mates is the title for this expressive photograph I had the honor of capturing in a garden here in NYC. The two tulips were so beautifully bonded organically with the smaller one looking on I immediately thought of the word 'soulmates.' When you find your soulmate/s in life it happens naturally just like these flowers.
“As a certified Health Coach, my mantra is, take care of yourself so you can care for others.”
