"My journey through art has shown me that even if my early drawings didn't match my father's skill, they revealed my natural talent for imagination and thinking outside the box."
Tali Rachelle, the artist from Austin, Texas, had an interesting journey. People often told her, "Your work speaks much louder than you do," when she was in university studying Technical Design. She's a quiet artist who likes minimal distractions and prefers her own company when she's thinking of new ideas. The only sounds she welcomes are the beats and lyrics of the music playing in her headphones. These tunes give her a sense of peace and inspiration.

I wanted to pay respect to big hair, tube socks, and disco at the roller rink. The patent skate design really gives this piece a vintage vibe.
Tali didn't go to art school; she's self-taught. Her dad's comic-style drawings inspired her to start making her own art. She liked drawing characters, faces, and fashion, and she even tried drawing herself once, with funny results. Though her early drawings weren't as good as her dad's, they showed she had a talent for being imaginative and thinking creatively.

I was reminiscing about the brightly colored jukeboxes that were present at retro cafes. Envisioning someone getting up to choose their favorite song and the other patrons smile because they know and like the same song. When the song ends, someone else gets up and plays it again.
When Tali was seven, her family moved to the UK. This move sparked her interest in architecture and interior design. She saw huge castles and interesting old buildings. She went on weekend trips to the countryside and nearby villages, where she saw even more unique structures and designs.
"Exploring historic English structures and countryside during my childhood ignited my fascination with architecture and design."
A few years later, her family moved back to the United States, but Tali's interest in architecture and interior design came with her. She became a preteen who collected magazines about architecture and home plans. Her drawings began to resemble the big American homes around her, and she even made lookbooks for future inspiration. During this time, she decided that a career in design was her calling.

This monstrous, magnificently colored octopus is guarding lost treasure under the sea. Previous treasure hunters were unsuccessful. The beast sank their ships and kept their diving helmets as trophies.
My representation of a beautiful, shiny brass and steel queen bee with lace wings. I adore Steampunk and wish it were a true period in history.

After a few more years, Tali joined the military and lived in Denver, Colorado. She started studying Interior Design at the Art Institute of Colorado. She learned about color theory and creating blueprints, and she really liked those classes. But a year into her studies, something terrible happened, and she had to stop her education.
"Discovering Photoshop opened up a new world for me, allowing me to transform my drawings into graphic designs."
"Art doesn't have to make sense; that's the beauty of it. Despite the challenges I faced, art became my means of self-expression and recovery during a difficult period."
During her recovery, Tali used her creativity to fill her days. Drawing characters, faces, and art became her joy once again. A few more years passed, and Tali ended up in San Antonio, Texas, for her final military duty station. It was there that she bought her first copy of Photoshop after seeing how artists used it for their artwork, not just for photos. She spent her free time learning how to use Photoshop and turning her drawings into graphic designs.

Serendipity | Graphic Design

As a child, I was told that ladybugs represent good fortune. This is a blend of my love for surrealism and the beautiful red beetle. I gave this one beautiful fairy wings.
When her military service ended, Tali moved to Austin and attended a university with a Technical Design program that focused on construction and design from a slightly different angle than Interior Design and Architecture. She learned about carpentry, and production painting, and had to take Drawing and Graphic Design courses too. She loved it. That's when she knew she found her niche.

Monarch | Graphic Design

Each fall, Monarch butterflies migrate an astonishing 3000 miles to Central Mexico in search of a warmer climate. This one is ready to take flight with its fall-colored wings.
Tali graduated with a Bachelor's degree and did some work in front of and behind the camera. But right after graduating, she started her own freelance graphic design business. She opened online shops to showcase her art, worked on art projects for clients, and took part in local and national exhibitions.
Fishy is inspired by the vibrantly colored, yet fiercely protective male Siamese fighting fish.

"My 'Patent' series is a unique way for me to blend old art with the new, paying homage to the past while showcasing my appreciation for vintage blueprints and construction."

Croak | Graphic Design

I wanted to create something green, thus Croak was born. The background gears subliminally represent the inner workings of the frog.
Tali still creates art using both traditional methods and digital editing software. Many of her designs have a surrealistic feel, and she's inspired by everything around her – her environment, lyrics, colors, experiences, and people. Her "Patent" series is her way of blending old art with new, paying respect to vintage blueprints and construction.
The lyrics from the song had popped in my head one day. Suddenly I needed to design a pair of boots.

Made For Walkin' | Graphic Design

Even though Tali has taken university-level classes in Drawing and Graphic Design, she always goes back to creating designs as she envisions them, not worrying too much about what's technically correct or "proper." If an image pops into her head, like a ladybug with fairy wings, that's what she creates. She knows that her art won't always make sense, but that's what makes art so wonderful – it doesn't have to.

The Sun's Flower |Graphic Design
$75

To me, sunflowers are the "sun" of the plant kingdom. They're large, bright yellow, and spread feelings of warmth. They're also one of my favorite flowers.
"My creative journey has shown me that art is about self-expression and embracing the freedom to create without constraints."
