Susanne Fumelli

ITALY

Yellow and Black Photography Quote (1).p

“With many successful treatments on animals, I acquired more and more knowledge about anatomy and was also able to successfully use these details in my paintings.”

Susanne Fumelli was born in Munich in March 1961. In the initial years of her life, she was raised by her grandparents, and as she became close with her grandfather, her curiosity for drawing and painting developed. At the beginning of her school years, she drew schoolmates, animals, and just about anything that challenged her talent. The first publication took place in the school newspaper, for which she created the cover photo.

I saw an incredible photo by Sid Toama, and the light in the eyes and background fascinated me. This was the most complex painting I ever did.

Due to her family circumstances, she decided not to pursue an academic education but to switch to the craft sector and begin an apprenticeship as a dental technician. These difficult works on the object sharpened her senses for precise and detailed reproduction, and she was able to use all this wonderfully in her "dream" painting.

I wanted to show the softness and the shimmer of this beautiful Lusitano stallion.

“Out of curiosity, I experimented with a completely new kind of painting and used pastel pencils for depictions.”

She used her time wisely to improve technology in her own way. She has the outstanding ability to capture colors and apply them to paper, canvas, or other substrates, filling them more and more with joy. Her ability to capture objects in all their detail and her brilliance in reproduction also grew through practice and diligence.

The colors of this Ara were incredible.

After the birth of her daughter and son, she had to decide whether to continue to pursue the work she had learned or to follow her dream of starting a risky career as an artist and thus striving for a new foundation for life. Since painting took up an ever-larger area of her life and she wanted to spend more time with her children, the decision was not difficult, and the path to becoming a freelance artist was taken.

"I have created many artworks of landscapes and animals, mainly in muted colors, and this was followed by several successful solo and collective exhibitions in Munich."

"The search for new techniques and new objects, and the urge to produce something artistically valuable, sometimes brought them to the limit of what was possible, and days turned into nights and nights into days."

This was a horse that I had for over 10 years. She sadly passed away a few years ago. always in my heart.

In 1989, galleries and art dealers learned about Susanne, and she began to carry out commissioned works. Works were made according to the wishes of the customers, especially miniatures, which were in great demand. In this type of painting, a magnifying glass is used. From this point on, the demand increased; dealers and galleries from Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Bielefeld, Sylt, and also Salzburg sold their works.

A beautiful young Arabian filly. This is my favorite horse breed.

In 1999, she received an offer from the company Bradford Exchange in England to make the templates for three series of collection plates with motifs of cats and landscapes. These series were sold internationally and met with great interest among collectors.

With a great love for animals, especially horses and cats, and a passion for riding, always keeping the well-being of animals in mind, she decided at the age of 54 to start training as an animal healer. After two years of intensive study, she passed the exam with distinction.

"In search of new techniques, I discovered oil painting, which accompanied my work for a long time."

Her experiments led her to countless experiments with different papers, and today she makes the right choice for every project. Her faithful reproduction, partly photorealistic, the implementation of light effects, and the unmistakable feeling for colors that are only achieved by countless layers of different shades inspire the professional world.

This is "Just Noyz." "A beautiful Arabian stallion."

Since 2020, she has been a member of the "Salon National des Artistes Animalies" and was selected to exhibit two of her works in the annual exhibition in Paris in 2021. One of the plants found a new home in France. This was followed by publications in the "Colored Pencil Magazine." Participation in various competitions in Italy, America, and France has always been accompanied by success.

The power and elegance of a beautiful paint horse.

“Since March 2022, I have been living with three horses, a dog, and a cat in the middle of a nature reserve in Italy. Here, in seclusion, I find the peace and inspiration for my artworks.”
