“From a young age, I have had a fascination with pastels and watercolor paints.”
Sara Crespo, even as a child, would sit in her room, paint, and draw for hours while listening to music. She knew from those days forth, that this was a hobby she could not give up. Pastels and watercolors turned into pencil drawings, pen, and ink, and exploring with any medium she could get her hands on.

Sara went to high school and immediately knew where she belonged. There was a hallway in her high school where all the art students and classes gathered. Every year the senior students would enter school art competitions. She desperately wanted to grow up and be a part of it.

Art became very natural to Sara. By the time she reached her senior year, she had already taken part in two high school art competitions and applied for a scholarship. She went on to win an honorable mention award for a beautiful portrait done in charcoal.

Eager to continue her art career with the mindset that it was art or nothing, Sara went to college at The Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan New York. After starting her college career, she struggled to find herself, where she belonged in art school.

It was different for her to try new techniques and new mediums but it was at school where Sara found her new love for oil painting. The way she can control the paints with oil and be able to mix and blend colors so easily. It was as if the brushstrokes barely touched the paper.
“There is something so engaging that I find in the beauty of an oil painting. They always manage to mesmerize me in ways that I can’t explain.”
“After finishing my training and graduating college, the economy and financial struggles quickly started to set in. Being a female of many talents, I switched careers to the beauty industry for many years.”
Sara tried to find ways to add her artistic and creative talents to make other women feel beautiful. Despite feeling held down by the financial chains of life, she wanted to do more. Switching careers again but no longer using her artistic talents, she became fiscally content but unhappy in other ways, leading her to find her true artistic identity.
