Screen Print Art

Monika Galantai

HUNGARY

Yellow and Black Photography Quote (1).p

“I am a self-taught artist dedicated to creating a space for others via art that helps them reconnect with themselves, others, and nature.”

Hailing from Baja, a small town on the banks of the river Danube in southern Hungary, Monika Galantai, the self taught artist has nurtured a deep love for various art forms from a young age. Her artistic journey has been an exploration of the present moment, using drawing, screen print art, and painting as tools to ground herself.

Intelligent Interconnectedness - Black | Screenprinting | 24x17 in

24 X 17

‘Intelligent Interconnectedness - Black’ reimagines my ink drawing with a black background and vibrant colors, symbolizing the harmony of all things: light and darkness, female and male energy, life and death. This piece marks a pivotal moment in my artistic journey, capturing the profound interconnectedness of existence. It reflects the endless cycle of transformation and the fundamental truths that light and darkness coexist within us. (A2 giclée print ltd. edition 1/30)

Immersing herself in the act of creation, Monika focuses solely on the interaction between ink and surface, allowing the journey to unfold organically without a predetermined goal or outcome. This approach is a reflection of her belief in the importance of being fully present in the moment.

Variation to ‘Father of trees’ - Yellow | Screenprinting | 24x17 in

24 X 17

This is an interpretation of ‘Father of trees’ in yellow and blue using screenprinting and pour paint. This version symbolizes the flow, where chance never makes a mistake. (A2 giclée print ltd. edition 1/30)

Over the years, these themes have become central to her art, reflecting her introspection and deep appreciation for the themes of existence, nature, and the interconnectedness of all things. She believes that these themes are fundamental to understanding the human experience and finding one's true self.

“My creative process is a deeply meditative one, where the act of creation is a form of self-discovery and introspection.”

Through her screen print art, Monika aims to capture the profound connections that exist in nature, and within ourselves, permeating life. Her intricate details of lines and marks reflect my contemplation on these subjects, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with their own truths.

The pulsation between annihilation and rebirth | Ink | 17x12 in

17 X 12

‘The pulsation between annihilation and rebirth’ reflects life’s flow. Inspired by Naomi Shihab Nye's "Kindness" and Alan Watts' teachings, it captures the mutual rise and fall of energies. This artwork emphasizes light and darkness, each creating a unique echo of all that is. It's a meditation on our existence, urging viewers to embrace the magic of annihilation, which brings hope for rebirth and the emergence of something new and unexpected. (A3 giclée print ltd. edition 1/50)

Embrace pure potentiality. By steadying your body, mind, and energy, nature guides you to what is possible. This screenprint reinterprets my ‘Pure Potentiality’ ink drawing, reflecting fluidity and sacred distortion. It symbolizes belonging, key relationships, and the ultimate connection with everything around us, defining our essence and who we are. (A3)

Trippy Potentiality | Screenprinting | 17x12 in

17 X 12

Each piece she creates is a testament to the beauty of existence and the profound sense of peace that comes from being fully present in the moment. This quiet, internal self-reflection and powerful meditation on life is what fuels the essence of the narrative in her art. She believes that art has the power to heal and transform, and she hopes that her work can serve as a source of solace and inspiration for others.

“My art is a means of expressing the unspeakable, bridging the gap between human existence and the natural world, one image at a time.”

"I began sharing my creative work only recently with a broader audience, since 2021, with the hope that it would inspire others to find their inner echo and reconnect with their own truths. I currently live and create in London, where I continue to create and explore new artistic horizons for my art."

In recent years, Monika has expanded her artistic repertoire to include screen printing as one of the contemporary screen print artists. This technique has allowed her to view her black-and-white ink illustrations from a new perspective and incorporate more colors and experimentation into her creative process. Screen printing has become a significant part of her artistic expression, enabling her to explore new artistic techniques and methods continually.

Unknowing | Ink | 24x17 in

24 X 17

‘Unknowing’ evolved over weeks, inspired by maya, shamanism, and Alan Watts’ teachings on the self. This piece reflects a journey of contemplation and peace, embracing the unknown without seeking conclusions. Watts' insight that searching for the self implies its absence guided this artwork. It's a reminder that true understanding comes from being, not seeking. The process was a meditative exploration of existence and self-awareness. (A2 giclée print ltd. edition 1/50)

Through her website and social media platforms, Monika offers a glimpse into her artistic vision and process. Her work is not only an invitation to witness but also to experience the meditative state she enters during creation. Her website serves as a platform to connect with a broader audience and share the insights gained along her artistic journey.

Blue Soul-Soil | Screenprinting | 17x12 in

17 X 12

Blue Soul-Soil' is a piece that reflects the philosophy that both light and darkness are necessary to experience the fullness of life. The piece invites viewers to embrace the natural dualities, allowing them to flow through us and regenerate our true selves. 'Blue Soul-Soil' aims to guide individuals toward a deeper understanding of existence and the interconnectedness of all things. (A3 giclée print ltd. edition 1/20)

Her social media page provides a more personal look at her daily inspirations and artistic endeavors. It is a space where she shares behind-the-scenes glimpses of her screen print art, updates on ongoing projects, and reflections on her artistic path. The platform allows her to engage with her audience, fostering a community of individuals who appreciate the meditative and introspective nature of her art.

‘Dancing to an Elegantly Orchestrated Symphony (Green)’ reinterprets my ink drawing with vibrant green colors. Inspired by philosopher Deepak Chopra, it symbolizes the dance of existence, where life flows like a symphony. Chopra's philosophy of unity of mind, body, and spirit mirrors the connection between dancer and music. This artwork invites viewers to embrace life's natural rhythm, finding peace and awareness in the present moment. (A3)

Life happens in the infinite now | Mixed Media | 24x17 in

24 X 17

‘Life Happens in the Infinite Now’ is rooted in the philosophy of being fully present. It serves as a reminder that life unfolds in the present moment, and it is in the 'now' that we truly experience its essence. This piece, using screenprinting and pour paint techniques, blends vibrant red, muted red, and shades of blue to symbolize the dynamic nature of the present moment, inviting viewers to pause and embrace the 'now'. Monika Galantai draws inspiration from the natural world and the intricate patterns found in nature. Her work is a reflection of her contemplation on existence, nature, and the universe. By capturing the essence of these themes in her art, Monika invites future screen print artists to embark on their own journey of self-discovery and reconnect with the world around them.

When you dance to an elegantly orchestrated symphony called life, the sunset perspective is where you lose yourself in the playfulness of light and color. This screenprint reinterprets darkness from my drawing ‘Dancing to an Elegantly Orchestrated Symphony’ with vibrant sunset colors of orange, purple, and everything in between. (A3 Original)

It is a celebration of existence, a meditation on life, and an invitation to explore the beauty of the present moment.

Grounded - Landscape 1 |Screenprinting | 17x24 in

17 X 24

‘Grounded - Landscape 1’ is a reinterpretation of ‘Father of trees’ and ‘Grounded in the infinite now’ as a landscape. This screenprint uses ocher yellow, blue, and black to symbolize groundedness and flow. Inspired by the ancient kauri tree, Te Matua Ngahere, it honors the wisdom and beauty of nature, reminding us of our symbiotic relationship with the environment and the stillness found in being present. (A2 Original)

“Focusing on the present enables me to tap into a deeper level of creativity and connection with my art.”
