Based in Florida’s sunny West Central coast, Jean-René Rinvil lead a very fulling life as a father, husband, business owner, mixed-media artist, filmmaker, and photographer. Each of these aspects of his work flows from a rich life of experience and inspiration. Jean-René was born and raised in Haiti until the age of twelve.

This is a tribute to Haiti's president, Jovenel Moise who was assassinated on July 7th, 2021 at his private home. His top body is made of the Haitian people.
He and his family migrated to Miami, Florida following the turmoil that resulted from the overthrow of the Jean-Claude “Baby Doc” Duvalier regime. As a Haitian native, he grew up in a country in which art trickles from the very fabric of the culture. From colorful houses to beautiful Tap-Tap buses (public buses) and murals all across the Island made the experience like a daily gallery for the average citizen to partake in the art-rich atmosphere of vibrant experiences.

Surviving The Storm is made from a photograph of my cousin I took while visiting my family in my small town in Haiti. I juxtaposed this iconic fortress "La Citadelle" located in the Northern part of Haiti and combined the upcoming storm. I created this piece a week before the August 14th earthquake that hit Haiti for the second time.
Although Jean-René was never formally trained as a painter or a digital artist, his passion for the arts started at the end of his middle school when he was accepted into the South Miami High School magnet program for film at the University of Miami.

Jean-Rene’s first film was about a drunken father who would physically abuse her daughter after his wife had passed away. Jean-René went on to produce and direct many other film projects in high school about the environment, children in special educational programs, “Respect Teens” video campaigns, etc.

The journey is about a granddaughter who's about to get married and is looking at her grandmother's reflection in the mirror knowing this will be her in the future.
Magical Realism is a reflection of an iconic marketplace in Port-Au-Prince and a river passing through the street with a dog overlooking a garden.

In keeping with his passion and the need to change the many negative stereotypes about his country, Jean-Rene pursued his dream to reach for the stars with his formal education and completed a Master of Fine Arts degree at the School of Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), home to one of the world’s finest art schools.
“My work doesn’t solely express one genre, it touches on social issues, political, family, mental illness, environmental as well as childhood.”
“As an artist, my dream remains to make a strong and long-lasting impact on my community, both in the United States, the globe and in my native Haitian homeland.”
Jean-Rene journeyed back to Haiti once again to produce and direct his thesis project for the Art Institute. However, in over twenty years of professional career, Jean-René artistically worked on many projects that focused on sexual assaults, breast cancer, mental health, and cultural disparities as well as music videos, film festivals, and guest webinars.

Healing is a part of a documentary film project on the disparity of mental health in Haiti that I produced.
In the spring of 2020, during the development of COVID-19, the artist began to develop further his exploration into digital mixed-media arts including challenging himself to include in his repertoire the new technology of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTS). While not academically trained as a digital artist, his artistic abilities have propelled him to create some amazing mixed media works that have garnered some attention in the art field.

Jean-René has received several accolades that include; getting accepted as a participating artist in the Art Beat Miami/Art Basel exhibition held in the first week of December 2021. An official proclamation presented by the Board of Chosen Freeholders of Bergen County, New Jersey.
Twisted represents the state of our current world. Greed is in the outlook of everything that is going on.

Jean-Rene also won first prize at the Contemporary Art Gallery Online for the 2021 "ALL Water/Seascape" Art Competition. He was selected as 3rd pace in the Digital Art Category for the ‘heART of Ybor’ Community Art Contest. In addition, Jean-René won the Merit Prize Award for the Open Art Competition in the Art Show International Gallery. He was awarded in the Contemporary Art Gallery 2020 "Photography/Digital Art" Competition. A Congressional Certificate presented by the Bergen County 5th Congressional District of New Jersey 2020.
